INTRODUCTION:

This 90-minute webinar aims to enhance practitioners’ knowledge and understanding of when race, culture and/or belief systems can become a safeguarding issue. Participants will explore the legal framework and help unpick the power of bias in understanding case trajectory.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of the course, delegates will:

  • Describe the influence of families’ race, culture and belief systems on child development and clarify when there is a safeguarding matter;
  • Have increased confidence in understanding the baseline from which to measure concern and the procedural framework;
  • Develop an understanding of bias in practice and how to challenge this in one’s own practice and recognise when it may be operating in multi-agency work.
