Coaching Programme for NQSWs: Ethical Practice

INTRODUCTION:

This session is primarily for Newly Qualified Social Workers who are working with children and families, as an opportunity to support their confidence to practice post-qualifying. 

Social workers should use the authority of their role in a responsible, accountable and respectful manner. They should exercise authority appropriately to safeguard people with whom they work and to ensure people have as much control over their lives as is consistent with the rights of others.

This webinar will encourage delegates to consider the ways in which their professional and personal power needs to be balanced and used carefully to proactively support people to achieve their outcomes whilst maintaining their professional responsibility.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

By the end of the course, delegates will:

• Have considered the types of power and authority they have in their role and how to use these in an ethical way;
• Have an overview of the key theories and research in relation to this area;
• Have considered the core ethical issues and principles in social work.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Heidi Rossetter is a Practice Development Lead in Islington Adult Social Care. Her role focuses on practice learning, ASYE, training and policy development. Heidi is experienced in coaching and mentoring as well as facilitating a wide range of training courses. Her background is in managing services for adults with learning disabilities.
